My partner and I visited Predators of the Heart mid-December 2018 during our trip around the Pacific North West. This is a fantastic organization and anyone traveling through the area should reserve an encounter for a once in a lifetime experience (and to support a great cause). We had plenty of time with all the animals on this small tour (only 3 people in addition to us).Īll of the animals seemed every well taken care of and it was clear everyone had a true passion and love for each of the animals we met. It was incredible to be so close to and connect with these animals. They were very happy and friendly, even rolling over and pawing us for belly rubs. We were able to pet them and get some close-up photos with them. We then were brought into another beautiful, large enclosure with two of the older, large wolves. We were able to pet and love on the wolves, who seemed to really enjoy the interaction (especially rubs behind the ears). The wolves had an “escape route”, so if they weren’t feeling the humans, they could easily walk away. It was amazing to be able to interact with the whole pack and see and learn about their various personalities. We were able to enter the enclosure with a pack of younger wolves (around 1 year old). Of course, the special moment is with the wolves. Due to regulations, you cannot pet these animals, but you do get very close to them and get to see many out of their enclosures. They have a variety of animals that they rescued for different reasons, including sloths, an anteater, raccoons, a skunk, a porcupine, opossums, mountain lions, emu, coatimundi, exotic birds, and more. Thanks to these tours, they have been able to greatly expand and are constantly working on newer, bigger and better enclosures for their animals. We also got to hear a bit about the start of PotH and their recent successes. We arrived on the beautiful property and started by watching an interesting video about the impact of wolves on the environment. It was a really great and unique experience. We visited Predators of the Heart in mid-August. All the money spent goes right back into taking care of these animals and Ashley and her crew do more than an amazing job at providing them with the best life possible. My husband and I have some great photos of us and Max (one of the wolves who likes to take photos) and I shared them with friends and family who all said "Whoa!!!" We have one where he is yawning so he looks super fierce but he's a big softie (but he's still a wolf so not too soft >) Absolutely do this experience. The love that each handler has for them totally comes across. It is unfortunate that these animals are where they are but they are not being exploited and they are being very well cared for. A lot of care, concern and compassion are shown to these wolves (and all the rescue animals at this facility) by their care takers and it shows. This is an experience that shouldn't be missed! It was amazing to be right next to a wolf (many of them in fact) and to look into their eyes and really see just how majestic they are.
